On Friday, March 28, 2025, an unprecedented diplomatic ballet took place at the Togolese presidential palace. On that day, fourteen new ambassadors, including Her Excellency Rosemary Mbabazi of the Republic of Rwanda, presented their credentials to President Faure Gnassingbé.
This was the highest number of accreditation letters the president has ever received in a single day since he came to power in 2005. This feat reflects the quality of the friendly and cooperative relations between Togo and these countries. These diplomats, from countries such as Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, South Korea, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Japan, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Rwanda, Tunisia, the Vatican, and Vietnam, were received in three waves.
One striking observation during this diplomatic mass was the presence of only one woman among thirteen men. And this woman was none other than Rwandan Rosemary Mbabazi, President Paul Kagame's Personal Representative in Togo and Ghana.
After the audience granted to her by the Togolese Head of State on March 28, Mrs. Rosemary Mbabazi praised the quality of relations between Rwanda and Togo, particularly in the areas of trade, with the avoidance of double taxation, and diplomatic relations, with the reciprocal visa exemption.
It is worth recalling that Mrs. Rosemary Mbabazi (in picture above) was born on July 17, 1975. She holds a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Business Administration. Before her appointment to Togo, she served as Head of the Investment Promotion Department of the Rwanda Development Board, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and East African Community Affairs, and Minister of Youth and Culture.
Her diplomatic jurisdiction is Ghana and Togo, with Accra as her residence.
