In September 2024, a woman named Rita OMOSULU OLUBUSAYO arrived at the Nigerian Embassy in Togo. Since her arrival, she has been causing sleepless nights for the rest of the staff. Gossip, slander, and discord have become the menu this woman serves up to her colleagues at the Embassy. Despite her title of \u00ab\u00a0First Secretary,\u00a0\u00bb she shows a lack of respect for everyone in the Embassy. The worst happened last week. This formidable woman targeted the Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires of the Embassy, \u200b\u200bMs. Callista ADAEGO NDIDI NWOSU. Using the pretext that Ms. NDIDI NWOSU has reached the age of 60, the required retirement age, the First Secretary has forbidden her from using her official vehicle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another striking example of her audacity occurred on Thursday, October 30th, when she locked the Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires in her office. She remained there until 9:36 PM, when emergency services arrived to remove her. The Nigerian community, having been informed of the situation, expressed its outrage and disapproved of the behavior of the self-proclaimed \u00ab\u00a0First Secretary.\u00a0\u00bb Both diplomatic and local staff are appalled by the actions of this woman, whom they describe as a \u00ab\u00a0demon.\u00a0\u00bb And to top it all off, yesterday, Monday, November 3rd, 2025, the Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires suffered yet another blow from this woman. She barred the Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires from entering the embassy premises of the rented vehicle in which she was traveling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this incident, Ms. Rita went to the Lomegan Research Brigade to file a complaint, stating that she had been beaten by the Vice-President of the Nigerian Community in Togo, Mr. Ofeimum Monday. He was subsequently arrested yesterday, Monday, November 3rd, after being summoned by the Brigade Commander. The question remains: on what grounds did the Brigade base its arrest of this Nigerian community leader?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crucial question now is which diplomatic title takes precedence: Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires or First Secretary?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given the toxic atmosphere prevailing at the Nigerian Embassy, \u200b\u200bit is urgent that the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs be quickly informed by his Togolese counterpart, Professor Robert Dussey, to prevent further escalation at the embassy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
