They are 25 political and armed struggle movement’s leaders in Darfur participating since this morning, july23th , 2023, to the meeting which is taking place in Lomé, the capital of Togo.

The main objective of this consultative meeting is to provide an opportunity for the Darfurian leaders to discuss the effect of the war on Darfur and Sudan in general, and to develop ideas that could lead to taking a unified position to mitigate the effects of the current war in Darfur and preserve the cohesiveness of its society as well as finding a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the entire Sudanese crises.

After the war broke out in Sudan on April 15th, 2023, between Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), the global community has been grappling with understanding the real causes behind the war. Of equal importance, however, is the question of how these events impact not only the Sudanese people in general, and the people in Darfur in particular, but how these events impact international peace and security.
That is why the Togolese government through the Ministry of foreign affairs decides to do mediation between the protagonists, on 23 and 24th july, 2023 in Lomé.
